Mosteiro da Batalha
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage since 2007, the Mosteiro da Batalha, or convent of Santa Maria da Vitoria, is one of the most beautiful jewels of the Portuguese architecture.
It is distinguished by its monumentality and by the stone tracery on the outside. It consists of a church, two cloisters with annexes and two royal pantheons, the Capela do Fundador and the Capelas Imperfeitas.
Nazaré
Fishermen’s wives still wear seven layers of colorful skirts, as well as wooden clogs and a predominantly black scarf. The seven layers of skirts are said to represent the seven days of the week, the seven colors of the rainbow, the seven sea waves of a series and many other biblical, mythical and magical attributions that involve the number seven.
In Nazaré during the winter you can see very big waves, being one of the best places for surfing championships.
